Top 10 British Racers of 2018
8) Colin Turkington – British Touring Car Champion
Only one race win in 2018, but still the champion… Tells you all you need to know about the BTCC doesn’t it? It was an understated year for Colin as he kept plugging away, massing points race-after-race and it was those continuous performances that earnt him his third title. Both Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton pushed the Northern Irishman hard and deserve a mention, but Turkington makes the list at number eight.
7) Cal Crutchlow – Seventh in MotoGP (Argentina Winner)
Seventh doesn’t tell the whole story for Cal. An injury sustained at Philip Island ended his season early and saw him drop out of the running for third in the championship. After winning the rather bonkers race in Argentina, Crutchlow led the MotoGP standings for the first time in his career and he continued putting in solid performances on his LCR Honda as he proved his worth, beating the factory Honda rider Dani Pedrosa in his farewell season.
