Top 10 British Racers of 2018
2) Lewis Hamilton – FIA Formula 1 World Champion
2018 was without doubt, in my opinion, Hamilton’s best year in F1. He eventually made title rival Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari team crack, and it seemed he couldn’t be beaten at times as he dominated the second half of the championship on his way to his fifth World Title. He now sits joint second on the all-time list, just two behind the great Michael Schumacher as he continues to win race-after-race in his hugely dominant Mercedes car.
1) Jonathan Rea – World Superbike Champion
I could’ve put the top two in either order, but I’ve put Jonny on top simply because his 2018 season confirmed him as the G.O.A.T of World Superbikes. A fourth back-to-back title and he would’ve broken his own points record had the final race at Qatar not been cancelled. A collision with teammate Tom Sykes at Brno was the only blot on a simply remarkable season which saw him claim 11 straight wins following the incident in the Czech Republic. He now sits level with Carl Fogarty on four world titles and for me, was the best British racer of 2018.
