WSBK: Muir “on a real high” after Brno success
Milwaukee Aprilia team boss Shaun Muir is more than happy after his riders – Eugene Laverty and Lorenzo Savadori – gave him and Aprilia their first double top five of the season with 4th and 5th respectively in race two at Brno.
Lorenzo Savadori has been enjoying the last two rounds of the WSBK championship, finishing 5th and 7th at Donington Park and 7th and 5th at Brno. Eugene Laverty matched his best result since returning to the championship last year, with a 4th place and just 1.7s away from his first podium in a world championship since Sepang in 2014.
Muir said, “Obviously we are on a real high from this weekend at Brno, we’ve had two strong finishes in two races and produced the best performance of our World Superbike campaign. To be only 1.7s off Davies in third who we beat yesterday was hard to take, but nevertheless we go away on a real wave to Laguna Seca, a track that we can excel at.
“I’m really proud of the team, they worked hard all week and their focus and drive is great to see. The riders are in a good place with the bike, so we have much to look forward to.”
The team had a best result of 6th at the track last season, with Laverty in race two. Savadori completed the races in 10th and 8th.
